Note: This KB article is for the Windows version of Easy VHS to DVD Plus
How to reinstall the Roxio VHS Capture drivers
To manually uninstall and reinstall just the Roxio VHS capture device drivers, and not the entire Easy VHS to DVD Plus software application, follow these steps:
1. Open Device Manager by typing it in the Windows Search box on the taskbar, then select it from the "Best match" list;
2. A faster way to bring up the Device Manager is by right-clicking on the Windows Start button and selecting "Device Manager" from the Power user menu;
3. In Device Manager, scroll down (if needed) and expand the "Sound, video and game controllers" item;
4. Right-click on one of the Roxio Video Capture USB devices and select "Uninstall";
5. If you see an option box for "Delete the driver software for this device", check that box, then click Uninstall;
6. Do the same for the other Roxio Video Capture USB device;
7. If you have either one of the Roxio Video Capture USB devices listed under "Other devices", perform the same procedure;
8. Once done, disconnect the Roxio video capture USB device and exit Device Manager;
9. Navigate to the folder that contains your Roxio Easy VHS to DVD Plus installer files. If you no longer have a copy of the installer files, you can download a copy from this link. Run the downloaded installer file and follow the on-screen instructions. Select "Download only" and take note of the download location;
10. In the Easy VHS to DVD Plus installer folder, look for the subfolder named "VIDEOCAP_USB_30_X64" and open it. If you have a 32-bit version of Windows, select the subfolder "VIDEOCAP_USB_30_X86" instead;
Note:
If you need to know if you have 32-bit or 64-bit Windows, right-click on the Windows Start button and select "System" from the power user menu. In the About window, it will show as your "System type".
11. Look for the file named "Roxio Easy VHS to DVD.msi". Make sure you have File Explorer set to show file extensions. Go ahead and run this installer;
12. You will see options to: (x)Modify, (x)Repair, or (x)Remove - select "Remove";
13. If the User Account Control (UAC) prompts you if you want to continue, select "Yes";
14. The device driver software will be uninstalled - reboot the computer;
15. Once you have signed back into Windows, run the installer ("Roxio Easy VHS to DVD.msi") again from the same location. This will reinstall the Roxio video capture driver software;
16. If UAC prompts to continue ("Do you want to allow this app...."), select "Yes";
17. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the procedure;
18. Reboot your computer.
Associating the Roxio video capture USB device with the device driver
After the above procedure, you're not done yet. You still need to associate your Roxio capture device with the installed device drivers.
Open Device Manager again and re-attach your Roxio video capture USB device - the window should refresh immediately, indicating that it has detected your capture device; it should automatically install the device. The two Roxio video capture USB devices may initially show up under the "Other devices" section of Device Manager. But once the device drivers have been associated and the devices initialized, they will be moved to the "Sound, video and game controllers" section.
Now, launch your Easy VHS to DVD Plus software and see if the issue has been fixed. If not, please try the procedures in the KB article linked at the start of this article.
